Evan Sing

Evan Sing (he/him) is a senior majoring in International Relations with specializations in Europe & Russia and International History & Culture. He is also pursuing a minor in Russian. He spoke with us about his research interests, favorite IR class, internship experience, and what he enjoys outside of the classroom.

What are your primary research interests?

Transatlantic policy, Eastern European politics and security, politics in the former Soviet Union + international nuclear energy cooperation, which I am planning on making my focus of study at Georgetown as a Masters student this Fall.

What is your favorite IR class so far and why?

I loved Professor Kenneth Schultz’s course, War and Peace in American Foreign Policy. Prof. Schultz is a wonderful instructor and lecturer, and his course gave me a great grounding for understanding the role of the military in U.S. foreign policy, as well as an overview of recent foreign conflicts America has been involved in.

Can you tell us a bit about a recent internship/study abroad experience?

This Winter, I participated in Stanford in Washington, interning for Gary Peters, a U.S. Senator from my home state of Michigan. It was my first time in D.C., and I loved meeting  and engaging with professionals who shape U.S. foreign and domestic policy every day.

Any hobbies or outside interests?

I love learning languages, playing tennis, and going rock climbing!
