Danielle Healy

Danielle Healy is a rising junior majoring in International Relations with interests in Russian and Eastern European History and culture, human rights, and international law. She is passionate about democratic integrity and civil rights domestically and abroad.

As an International Relations major, Danielle greatly enjoys all the interesting classes that are offered. With topics ranging from Human Trafficking to UN Peacekeeping, the International Relations major offers courses exploring fascinating subjects. Declaring as an International Relations major was an obvious decision for Danielle, and she is beyond happy that this is the path she chose.

In the fall, Danielle will be conducting research with Professor Patenaude about the American Relief Administration’s mission to the Soviet Union during the famine in 1922. Danielle will be reading archives from the Hoover Institution in both English and Russian, which will be used to highlight important accomplishments from the mission. This archival research will culminate in an exhibition in the fall of 2022, where Danielle will be showcasing her research

With an international relations degree, Danielle wants to get involved in international human rights and engage with international law. To do this, Danielle hopes to attend law school and specialize in international law. Beyond Danielle’s educational aspirations, she wants to engage in international service and plans to discover her career path as she continues her education.

This summer, Danielle is working with Equality California, the largest statewide LGBTQ+ organization that focuses on LGBTQ+ public health concerns and policy initiatives. Danielle is honored to be a part of this work and utilizes her personal and academic knowledge to be a productive member of the team. Danielle can do this work with the help of the Haas Center for Public Service. She is participating in the Spirituality, Service, and Social Change Fellowship, where she can explore her impact and future within the public service sector.

Danielle is from Southern California, and she is greatly looking forward to rejoining campus life in the fall. She loves walking around main quad and spending time with her friends.
