The Stanford Ottoman Music Ensemble is directed by Master-Musician Necati Çelik, Roberta Bowman Denning visiting artist in residence at the AbbasI Program in Islamic Studies and guest lecturer in the Department of Music. Facilitated by Professor Denise Gill, this student and community ensemble presents a concert of compositions that hearken back to the musical practices from diverse communities of Ottoman Constantinople or Istanbul.
