"The White Meadows" directed by Mohammad Rasoulof (Iran, 2009)

Q&A with film writer and director Mohammad Rasoulof via Skype. Conversation will be live-translated into English.

In this dreamlike film, Rahmat the boatman navigates the brackish waters of a coastal land, collecting the heartaches and tears of its inhabitants. But he remains powerless against their misguided attempts to appease the gods and make the land green again, whether by offering a bride to the sea or forcibly "treating" the eyes of a painter who sees in different colors. View the trailer.

Mohammad Rasoulof is an acclaimed Iranian writer and director. His films include "The Twilight," "Iron Island," and "Lerd" among others. In 2010, he was arrested in Iran and was sentenced to a year in prison. He continues to be banned from making films in his home country and is currently awaiting trial on charges of "propaganda against the regime" and "activity against national security."
