Inspired by a true story, "Waiting for Kiarostami" focuses on the life of a medical student (Dorsa) at Ningbo University in China who has to choose between her father’s wish for her to become a doctor, and her own passion to become a singer and an actress while the director Abbas Kiarostami wants her for his latest film in China. The film has received six awards from the Five Continents International Film Festival.

The film is directed by the award-winning Iranian-American director, Hossein Khandan. He has made five feature length documentaries and docu-dramas and 15 short films. He also has taught filmmaking courses and creative photography at many international schools and at Ningbo University in China. Hossein will lead a discussion after the film screening.

We are pleased to announce that one of the film's lead actresses, Ana Bayat, will also be joining the discussion after the screening. Ana is an award-winning actress and playwright as well as a lecturer in modern languages at the department of world languages and cultures at St. Mary’s College of California.
