Recently released, The Force takes a deep look at the Oakland Police Department as it struggles to confront federal demands for reform, bringing up questions around the use of force, corruption, culture, and accountability. The Force was the recipient of the 2017 Sundance Directing Award.
Following the film, we will have the privilege of hearing from Alison Lean Parker, Director of Human Rights Watch’s US Program, John Raphling, Senior Researcher for Human Rights Watch’s US Program, and Peter Nicks, the film’s Director.
