Based on his recently published memoirs, Bliżej Polski (Closer to Poland), Bernard Margueritte, former correspondent for Le Monde and Le Figaro, will speak about his experience as a correspondent in Poland in the second half of the 20th century. His book combines his personal narrative with excerpts from his articles and journalistic works, adding behind-the-scenes stories to the publicized narrative of Poland's recent history.

Bernard Margueritte is president of the International Communications Forum and a columnist for Tygodnik Solidarność. He is a former correspondent for Eastern Europe for Le Monde and Le Figaro as well as for Radio Europe 1, Radio Suisse Romande, and the TV station Le Cinq. His academic career includes both a Master’s degree in Humanities and post-doctoral work in Medieval Polish-Latin literature from Sorbonne, two Fulbright Fellowships at the Russian Research Center at Harvard, and a fellowship at the Davis Center for Russian Studies and Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard. He is the author of many articles and essay and co-author of four books, including his most recent work Bliżej Polski about his time as a correspondent in Poland.
