Espejos: Latin American Cinema screening series presents Hamaca Paraguaya (Paraguayan Hammock) (2006, Paraguay/Argentina, 78 mins) on Monday, June 5 at 6pm at Bolivar House. Tinker Visiting Professor Juan Antonio Suarez (Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and Film Studies) will lead a discussion after the film. Hamaca Paraguaya (2006) is a Paraguayan/Argentinian drama written and directed by Paz Encina. The film screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. The story takes place on a single day, June 14, 1935, when an elderly couple in an isolated jungle area of Paraguay wait for their son to come home from war.
