Shanay Jhaveri, Assistant Curator, South Asia is a graduate of Brown University, with a BA in Art-Semiotics and the History of Art and Architecture, and has a PhD in Curatorial and Critical Studies from the Royal College of Art. His recent exhibitions include Companionable Silences (Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013); and India: Visions from the Outside (Cultuurcentrum Brugge, Bruges, 2012). He has also curated film programs for the 3rd Edition of the Dhaka Art Summit, Light Industry, New York, Cambridge University, the LUX/ICA Biennial of Moving Images, Iniva and Tate Modern. His books include: Western Artists and India: Creative Inspirations in Art and Design (Thames & Hudson and The Shoestring Publisher, 2013); Outsider Films on India: 1950-1990 (The Shoestring Publisher, 2010); and Chandigarh is in India (The Shoestring Publisher, 2016). He has published widely in various art journals and is a contributing editor to FriezeMagazine. He is a trustee of the non-profit public space Mumbai Art Room, Mumbai.
