A Fireside Chat with Omid Kordestani, Google's "Business Founder" and the Executive Chairman of Twitter

The Persian Student Association Stanford (PSA) at Stanford University, and Iranian Stanford Alumni Association (ISAA) present: A fireside chat with Omid Kordestani about technology, business, career, and life lessons.Omid is currently the Executive Chairman of Twitter. As Google's "Business Founder" and employee number 11, Omid led Google's business operations from the first employees and the first dollar in revenue to over 12,000 employees and over $20B in revenues. After 10 years of executive positions at Google, Omid transitioned from his operational role to being an adviser to the office of CEO/Founders. In August of 2014 Omid was asked to return to Google to help the company through senior leadership changes and transitioning of the company into a new operating structure, and creation of Alphabet Inc, a public holding company. Omid delivered four quarters of revenue growth at an annual run-rate of over $70B.Omid started his career in Silicon Valley as a Product Marketing Manager at HP, followed by a series of start-up experiences at early smartphone innovator, GO Corporation, and interactive gaming company, 3DO. In 1995 he was one of the early employees at internet pioneer Netscape, eventually leading Netscape's sales and business development organization as a vice president.Omid Kordestani pursues his passion in technology, science, medicine and education through investments and advisory positions. Drawing from nearly 30 years of technology experience in Silicon Valley, he is actively investing in technology startups and advising entrepreneurs. His career spans product management, sales, business development and general management roles. Omid holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University, where he has endowed an Engineering Chair, and an MBA from Stanford University, where he served on the Graduate School of Business Advisory Board. Omid supports various philanthropic interests including Iranian-American causes, education and medicine.
