**We regret to inform you that we need to cancel Yadollah Royai’s lecture on March 14th. Although Mr. Royai has a French passport, he is a dual citizen of Iran. With the potential release of a new travel ban in the coming week(s), we are abiding by Mr. Royai’s decision to not subject himself to the stress of an uncertain journey and potential delays.

In the ten years of our program, this is the first time we have had to cancel a prominent lecture like this. We are saddened that we cannot bring such a luminary of modern Iranian poetry to Stanford at this time, but we will continue to hope Mr. Royai can join us at a future date.**

Yadollah Royai is a prominent figure in Persian contemporary poetry. He has published numerous collections of poems in Iran and Europe. He wrote the manifesto “Spacementalism” (1969) and is one of the pioneers of the ‘volume poetry’ movement. He currently lives and works in Paris.
